How Amanda Makes An Impact In Her Neighborhood and Community.
PCWA board secretary, Dan Tregembo, caught up with Amanda at the Monongahela Aquatorium right after the second annual PCWA Pigeon Creek Spring Cleanup on April 27, 2024. Originally, the plan was to shoot quick 30-second video interviews with various Spring Cleanup participants, but we think turning them into blog posts works better. So look forward to several more Spring Cleanup interviews over the next few days here on our blog.
This first interview was short, but we hope to talk to Amanda again in the near future about the library’s amazing Gyotaku fish printing workshop held in May 2024.

The interview
Dan: Okay, you all probably know Amanda from the library. I’d like to ask you, Amanda, why would somebody show up early on a rainy Saturday morning to pick up garbage along Pigeon Creek?
Amanda: Well, the easy answer is it’s right in my backyard. I live in Stoggletown. The more in-depth answer would be that I want to make an impact on the world and do something while I’m here. That’s why I work in libraries, and that’s why I wanted to come down and help pick up garbage on a Saturday morning!
Dan: and you get to meet a lot of neat people.
Amanda: You do. Two of whom I’m sitting with right now!
Dan: Alright, Amanda, thanks for taking the time to talk to us this morning!
Amanda: You’re welcome, Dan!
